MONEY/SEX/RELATIONSHIP SCANDAL- What's your immediate reaction? Squad member Congresswoman Cori Bush (@CoriBush) is being investigated by the Justice Department for allegedly misusing government funds designated for private security, even paying her lover tens of thousands of dollars in 2022 as a security guard, and then marrying him in 2023.
NOTE: The DOJ is looking into the criminal probe, and the House Sergeant at Arms has been subpoenaed for records related to the misuse of federal security money.
NOTE: A watchdog group, FACT, has urged the FEC to investigate the $62,000 Bush paid her now husband, Cortney Merritts, as a security guard from her campaign account.
NOTE: The inquiry questions whether Bush used campaign funds for personal use, especially considering that Merritts was on her re-election campaign payroll in 2022 and they got married in early 2023.
